Our Backflow 911 instructors teach students current backflow regulations specific to state requirements, 10th edition USC and ASSE testing procedures, troubleshooting procedures, and backflow assembly repair. Receive your ASSE National, Ohio, Kentucky, Indiana or Michigan State backflow tester certification by successfully completing the required course. Continuing educational hours are may be available for Water and Waste Water Certified Operators, and Plumbers.

Ohio Backflow Useful Links

To become a backflow tester in Ohio. A person must have 5 years related experience and gain approval from the State of Ohio DOC Backflow Advisory Board.

If you are not already aware, the Ohio Division has launched a new Customer Portal for Backflow testers.

With this launch:

  • Certificates and other important documents will now be accessible exclusively through the Portal.
  • All applications must be submitted through the new Portal moving forward.
  • Email notifications will alert you when an action is required (e.g., a document is available for download, a fee is ready to be paid, etc.).

To access the new Portal, you must have:

  • An OHID account, and
  • An IC Customer Portal account (which uses your OHID login credentials).

Indiana Backflow Useful Links

Every 2 years the state contacts active backflow testers asking if you want to remain an active backflow tester in Indiana. To remain an "Active" backflow tester in Indiana, you must return the letter your received to the State indicating your status to remain on the "Active Backflow Tester List" 

Michigan Backflow Useful Links

The State of Michigan requires ASSE tester certification and must be a licensed plumber in Michigan to test backflow assemblies.

ASSE requires recertification every 3 years.

 

Ohio Backflow Tester Certification Requirements

Must Be Approved by the State of Ohio Backflow Board To Attend Ohio Backflow Certification Course

The State Test
The Ohio-written state test will be given by the Ohio Department of Commerce on the 3rd Monday of the month with the exception of holidays falling on Monday. When this occurs, the exam will be given on the following day.

The doors will open at 9:30 am with the test beginning at 10 am and ending at 12 noon.
